GODIVA celebrated its 15th anniversary in mainland China with a chocolate exhibition at Shanghai Rockbund. The event is testament to GODIVA’s nearly century-long commitment to excellence, showcasing its deep-rooted Belgian craftsmanship, innovative spirit and chocolate artistry.

Steve Lesnard, President of GODIVA, expressed his excitement about this new chapter for the brand: “Since joining GODIVA, my priority has been to steer it into an exciting new chapter. Rooted in Belgium’s profound chocolate-making tradition, our dedication to innovation has set us apart from other chocolate brands. Looking to the future, we aspire to further intertwine chocolate culture, creativity and craftsmanship, positioning GODIVA as the top choice for chocolate enthusiasts. This exhibition is a vibrant reflection of this vision.”

The exhibition, a celebration of chocolate in all its forms, was divided into three spaces:

Exploring Belgian chocolate: This area delved into the history and heritage of Belgian chocolate, offering an immersive experience that traced the journey from raw cocoa pods to luxurious chocolate creations. Visitors engaged with the rich narrative through audio-visual displays that highlight the artistry behind GODIVA’s products.

GODIVA culture inspiration: This section featured the GODIVA Chocolate Creation Contest, where chocolatiers across China present their innovative interpretations of Eastern culture through chocolate art. Guided by GODIVA’s Chef Chocolatier Sébastien Bauer, these creations blend Eastern and Western aesthetics, embodying GODIVA’s commitment to cultural fusion and innovation.

GODIVA created wonderland: Guests indulged in the sensory delights of GODIVA’s signature pralines and truffles, participated in chocolate-making workshops and experienced the brand’s stories first hand. The exhibition also featured GODIVA’s legendary pink van, a symbol of joy and heritage, offering a variety of chocolate treats and drinks.

Manoj Loya, Managing Director of pladis’ Asia-Pacific region, highlighted GODIVA’s strategic focus: “For GODIVA, evolving consumer preferences and growing appreciation for quality and innovative products provide vast growth opportunities. Our goal extends beyond maintaining our leadership in the high-end market; we aspire to deepen emotional bonds with consumers in the Asia-Pacific region through sustained innovation and enhanced localisation.”
